“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

3 John 2 | The Holy Bible

Outpost Centers

God has a plan to demonstrate the wisdom of the Gospel. Believe it or not, Ezekiel saw the perfect order of heaven when he saw a wheel within a wheel. Perfect order, perfect harmony, and perfect movement. God will have a people that reflect this order here on earth.

Outpost Centers can take on different forms in different areas of the world. Homes, Schools, Missions, Publishing Houses, Sanitariums, and other places often have a mixture of several missionary activities. An Outpost is simply a missionary community (family, friends, or fellow missionary workers) organized to work together living in a country setting that allows for spiritual rejuvenation. Their intent is to organize and perform missionary work in the surrounding cities and towns. There is no hiding in the country, but in reality, the lifestyle lived at these Outpost centers reflects a heaven on earth. It is to be seen by the world, a powerful marvel to behold.

Notice this insightful commentary on the reason for our homes and schools: “The Garden of Eden was a representation of what God desired the whole earth to become, and it was His purpose that, as the human family increased in numbers, they should establish other homes and schools like the one He had given. Thus in course of time the whole earth might be occupied with homes and schools where the words and the works of God should be studied, and where the students should thus be fitted more and more fully to reflect, throughout endless ages, the light of the knowledge of His glory.” {Ed 22.2}

The cities of our present world are congested and full of the vilest lust. Our children and families need not have their living experience in these areas, but our cities still must be warned. Sin is considered a common and acceptable way of life and God in His fullness is far from many a mind. There is no doubt that the judgments of God are soon to fall upon these cities, and it is our responsibility to give the message of love and warning to those living in the cities, but not by living in them.

We are to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves in our efforts to secure country properties at a low figure, and from these outpost centers we are to work the cities.–Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 14, p. 7. (1902) {CL 31.3}

It is God’s design that our people should locate outside the cities, and from these outposts warn the cities, and raise in them memorials for God. There must be a force of influence in the cities, that the message of warning shall be heard.– Review and Herald, April 14, 1903. {Ev 76.4}

Now, what is to be that force of influence? If you look at the diagram, you will notice businesses, centers of influence, churches, etc. These are physical staples in the community that really reach out to the needs of the community. These are to be the city infrastructure of the outreach: Bible work, medical missionary work, and the like. These outreaches must be synergistic and glorify God.
